Self-watering system

This project was carried out as part of a course called Internet of Things and involves a self-watering system. The system consists of a physical water pump and an application for controlling the water supply. The application provides an overview of the plant’s wellbeing, including humidity, sunlight, and temperature. On the homepage, users can also ‘listen’ to their plants through a selected song—the healthier the plants are, the more complete the song becomes.

The application is implemented in Node-Red and gathers data from the plants using sensors that transmit information via an ESP and MQTT.

This was a group project where my primary focus was designing and implementing the application in Node-Red. The main challenge was understanding the communication between the ESP and MQTT and integrating it into Node-Red. Since this was all new to me, I initially found it challenging, but by the end of the course, I felt confident using Node-Red as a tool.
